On Wednesday, Terry and Tamara from the Derbarl Tackling Indigenous Smoking team attended Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital to conduct a Healthy Lungs event.
Our staff have been working hard, engaging with community and bringing awareness to the harms of tobacco. A small example of the difference they’ve been making happened at Wednesday’s event.
At a previous event in June, a young woman “Jen” who frequently used a vape, visited the Derbarl table and viewed Clem’s Phlegm. She had a very strong reaction, saying, “Ewww. Does that really happen?”
It was passed along at this event that Jen and two of her colleagues had given up vaping after seeing Clem’s Phlegm and she’s now working to make her home vape free. It was such a lovely example of how the smallest things can make a difference to the lives of others!
