Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service (Derbarl) is aware that Mr Mat Wilson is no longer serving as Chief Executive Officer of Ballardong Aboriginal Corporation.
Mr Wilson was duly elected as a Board Member of Derbarl at the organisation’s most recent Annual General Meeting, in accordance with our Rule Book and established good governance processes.
His appointment followed the same member-led, transparent process that applies to all Derbarl elected member Directors on the Board.
Derbarl does not comment on the employment or governance matters of other organisations.
Matters relating to Ballardong Aboriginal Corporation are appropriately addressed by that organisation and its Board.
Derbarl’s Board operates under a collective governance model, with individual Board members not holding executive or operational roles within the organisation.
We maintain robust governance frameworks, clear role delineation and strong accountability mechanisms to ensure the organisation continues to act in the best interests of the Aboriginal community it serves.
Derbarl remains firmly focused on its core purpose: delivering high-quality, culturally safe primary health care and social and emotional wellbeing services to Aboriginal people across the Perth metropolitan region.
Ms Tricia Stroud, Registrar of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations has published a letter on the ORIC website regarding recent media reports.
