On the back of Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service’s first Moorditj Kwopa Malyan
Respiratory Clinic last week, Derbarl opened its second Moorditj Kwopa Malyan
Respiratory Clinic in Mirrabooka on Monday 8 June. The clinics are part of the Australian
Government’s $2.4 billion health package response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Derbarl is proud to be the 13th Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service in
Australia delivering GP-led respiratory clinics to our people.
The Mirrabooka Moorditj Kwopa Malyan Respiratory Clinic will allow Aboriginal
patients and other members of the community with respiratory conditions and
mild to moderate COVID-19-like symptoms to access free assessment, testing
and treatment, away from other patients.
The local Federal Member for Stirling, Vince Connelly MP, today said, “This is a welcome investment in the local Mirrabooka community and is another example of the Morrison Government’s practical, on the ground support to improve
social and health outcomes for people and families living in Stirling.”
WA Primary Heath Alliance General Manager, Ms Bernadette Kenny, said the
organisation was delighted to have facilitated the establishment of WA’s second
Aboriginal-led respiratory clinic on behalf of the Australian Government
Department of Health. “Our work with Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service is a testament to the strong partnership between our two organisations. This clinic will keep Aboriginal people
and the wider community safe from COVID-19 close to home, in a welcoming
environment.”
The opening of our second Respiratory Clinic strengthens our ongoing efforts in health promotion and alternative health care to keep our people safe and protected from the virus.
